Approaching the 25-year mark of the 21st Century, let’s realize that we’re pretty far in. Technological progress is all around but sometimes gets lost in the e-shuffle, unless we shine a light on it … like in our year-end review of engineering progress and prowess around the globe.
With the pandemic fading into distant memory, 2023 seemed more like a ‘normal’ year. Yet, engineering progress continues to gain in speed and intensity.  This list of major 2023 Engineering impacts underscores that ‘classic’ motivations can drive new progress.
After ‘everyone’ was hunkered down (introspectively) the previous year, 2022 kept ramping upward and onward. People came out of their homes and began looking again at the world around them. This list of major 2022 Engineering impacts shows directed efforts on worries old and new, with hope vs fear competing as driving catalysts. Now that we are into 2023, let’s continue to strive for a positive Engineering impact, to counter the countervailing forces of entropy, self-interest, and close-mindedness. Saying goodbye to 2021. As tough as 2021 was for many, it does stand as an incredible year for positive Engineering impacts. Some noteworthy mentions form a list of reflections. Turning the page to 2022, let’s resolve to make that Engineering impact positive, not because we can, but also because we want to. And I’ll be cheering on my global colleagues. I know I’ll be reading about some of their accomplishments regularly in familiar places.
